Think snow is just a little white flake? Well think about this a snowflake is actually an aggregate of ice crystals that forms while falling in and below a cloud. They are typically hexagonally symmetrical, but don’t’ think they are perfectly symmetrical because they are not.
Think about a well formed snowflake as relatively flat and having approximately six identical arms. Now just think how great it would be to have six arms when you need to shovel this stuff - or think about being able to throw six snowballs at once!
Mathematician think is that a snowflake can appear in 10158 (10 to the 158th power) forms. Think about doing the math and figuring it out. Think about how big that number will be!
Think you have been snowed in? Think about this -the highest cumulate amount of snow ever measured was at outside Bellingham, Washington, USA in 1998-99. A total amount 1,140 inches. Think about shoveling that!
The people at the Guinness World Records think the world’s largest snowflakes as having fallen in January 1887 at Fort Keogh, Montana. They think one snowflake measured at 15 inches wide. Think about catching that one on your tongue!

There are many forms of recreation to think about doing in the snow. Many of these forms actually depend on snow. Think about building a snow man without snow...not much to think about. Anyone can think about participating in snow recreation from building a snowman, to skiing to watching it fall while you sit inside and think! Do you think shoveling is considered ‘recreation?
Do you think snow forts are cool? Think about this -the world's biggest snowcastle, the SnowCastle of Kemi, is built in Kemi, Finland every winter. It is three stories high and complete with a chapel, a restaurant and hotel. Think ahead for a reservation because they sell out fast.
There are more than 13 types of snowstorms to think about and more than 14 consistencies of snow to think about. One might not think this, but ice is considered a type of snow.
There is a Jamaican Bobsled team. Their Olympic debut was 1988 in Calgary. Hollywood thought their story would make a good movie started thinking of the script for “Cool Runnings.” Many people think this is a really funny movie.
Think you’re an expert skier? Just think there is no governing body that assigns difficulty ratings to ski trails. Instead, ski resorts think about what ratings to assign their own trails.
‘Thiink’ about this... "Skiing" is one of the few words in the English language that contains two "i"s in a row. Can you think of another one?
People have been thinking about skiing or some version of skiing as the archeologist think the oldest version of a ski is more than 4500 years old. They think it might be in a rental shop somewhere......

The people from the Telemark area of Norway have been largely credited with first thinking about developing skiing into a sport, somewhere in the early 1700's.
Historians think snowshoes were invented from 4,000 to 6,000 years ago. The snowshoe hare thinks they are wrong....
People are always thinking about how to modify and adapt to particular situations. In the 1920s many individuals thought to modified Ford Model T’s turning them into snowmobiles. Henry Ford didn’t think this was a bad idea and thought and did some thinking about making some with the thinking that a buyer could have any color they could think of, as long as, it was black....
Many think snow-boarding is a relatively new sport, but it was thought of and developed in the 1960s. The Olympic Committee didn’t think of adding to the games until 1998. Media professionals think this is the first time ‘totally awesome dude’ was said in a medal ceremony.... |
