BUSINESS GUIDANCE
AND LEADERSHIP
the Slim Famous Way:
Everyone has an idea.
Good, bad, ugly or amazing chances are that you have thought of something, at some point, that illuminated the light bulb in your mind and you thought That is a good idea.’ The problem, however, is that most people follow such a thought with ‘someone should do that.’ Then your idea, like millions of others are left to dissolve or to actually be ‘done’ by someone else.
I will always remember the look on my brother’s face the Christmas my mother put a tuna-fish can strainer into his stocking. That was an original idea he had talked about for years.
From moment the first Slim Famous Original product was available people have been asking for help to do the exact same thing. The conversation always begins the same way, ‘I have an idea....’ At this point I have heard hundreds of ideas from different people in all aspects of life.
Most ideas and usually the best are ways to improve something that a person deals with on a regular basis. One of the best ideas I have heard was from a hair-dresser who had thought of a way to keep her scissors sharp.
Nine times out of 10 the statement to follow ‘I have an idea’ is ‘but I don’t know what to do
with it.’
Take The First Step:
Get prepared and meet a local. Having a story doesn’t make a person a writer, but putting pen to paper does. Having an idea doesn’t make a person an inventor, but turning the idea into something real does. The first step is to commit to bringing your idea to life and once you have done that you are already moving forward.
When I was working as a travel writer I suggested that the first step was to gather as much information as possible about the place a person was going. Gain a full understanding of the place. Upon arriving at that place I suggested they find a centrally located park bench and sit down and watch for a while. Absorb the environment, energy, emotions, fashions and personalities. Doing this, I believe helps a person emerge into a new place more as if they belong and less like a tourist. I also suggested they seek out local establishments and through casual conversation learn as much as possible about where to go, what to see and what to do. Locals make the best guides. I would suggest pursuing an idea is not any different than traveling. They are both journeys to new places.
The Slim Famous company is a local
in the creative world.
Helping others pursue their original ideas or improve their business ideas and services has actually become a greater part of the Slim Famous Company. It is as equally rewarding helping someone else think of and develop their product or service, as it is developing A Slim Famous Original. It is the passion of playing in the creative process that eliminates a difference between the two. Your product or mine it doesn’t matter - bringing something new to the world is a great time.
The Slim Famous Company has already traveled the inventor’s road, made the mistakes, learned what works and what doesn’t and developed strong connections with others who can help.
Most original ideas are good ideas and will stand the chance at some form of success. It will be the creative strategy applied to branding the idea that will determine what type of chance a product will have when it is introduced to the marketplace. Successful branding begins the second an idea pops into being and never ends. It is the quality, but more importantly the ‘knack’ for strategic and creative thinking by the individual developing the brand that ultimately determines the fate of an idea.
All people claiming the ability to develop a brand are not equally good. The Slim Famous Company is among the very best at developing a successful strategy for the branding of an idea.
Creative thinking and ‘market-place savvy’ wins this game. A successful campaign must combine the smartest thinking with creative genius.
The Slim Famous Company has put everything out there in its own original products and services. A product such as Ruff Tools began as a simple thought and is now on Amazon. No other person contributed to details involved with developing the Ruff Tools product such as concept, design, writing, testing, promoting, growing, photographing or selling.
There are hundreds of web sites for creative marketing agencies providing definitions and services for each of the items listed in the previous sentence. Within these companies are groups of people who might possibly join together individual talents and resources to help you.
-Maybe. Chances are that not a single person within that group or the group as a unit has ever thought of, developed and successfully sold their own original product.
The minute you sign on with one of these agencies you begin paying their light bill, their workman’s comp insurance, their pay-roll and the bill for their Christmas party. Chances are what you get in return is the effort from an over-worked employee stamping out cookie-cutter ideas from inside a cubicle.
The Slim Famous Company works with a network of self-employed people that specialize in one thing. They are successful at that one thing or they go out of business.
If you have a product or service that you have just started thinking about or one that needs direction The Slim Famous Company is the best resource for getting you from want-to-be entrepreneur to successful entrepreneur.
